October 2024: A Month of Care, Community, and Compassion

As always, we're thrilled to share the latest from Lucky Ones Ranch for  the month of October 2024. Your unwavering support continues to fuel our mission, and we're eager to keep you informed about the happenings at our sanctuary.

October 2: Honey's Farewell, Starsky's Fever, Maggie's Eye Check & Steve's Vet Visit

Dr. K gave her honey her wings and passed away peacefully. 

Starsky experienced a fever, requiring close monitoring.

Maggie's eye was re-examined to assess its condition.

Stevie had his first appointment Pacific Specialty Vet in Lafayette.

October 3: Gabriel's Chiropractic Treatment

Gabriel received chiropractic adjustments to improve his overall well-being.

October 4: Grooming Day

Chowder and Elliott enjoyed a grooming session at Doggie Designs.

October 5: Hay Delivery

80 bales of hay were delivered, costing $950.


October 7: Edgar's Gotcha Day

We celebrated Edgar's 2nd Gotcha Day.

October 10: Winter Preparations

40 straw bales and 20 shavings were purchased for the winter season and 2 alfalfa bales were added to the feed supply.

October 11: Farrier Visit 

Lil Ethel, Aliyah, Strider, Dylan, Josephine, Leo, and Chloe received hoof care from the farrier.

October 13: Wild West Festival 

Josephine Sparklepants, Baaxter, Marilyn, Cake and Elliott greeted guests at the booth durinng the Wild West Festival and after the festival, Thao was recognized for her dedication to Solano County as a volunteer.

October 15: Gabriel's Chiropractic Follow-up and Dahlia's Vet Visit

Gabriel returned to the chiropractor for continued care.

Dahlia, our rabbit, was taken to All Creatures Vet Clinic in Folsom to treat a nose injury.

October 17: Surgery Consult and Volunteer Dinner

We met with Dr. Luckring at Pacific Vet in Lafayette to discuss Stevie's surgery options.

The volunteer team enjoyed a fall dinner at Pietro's in Vacaville.

October 18: Grooming for Edgar and Junior

Edgar and Junior were groomed at Doggie Designs.

October 19: Pig Trims

13 pigs received much-needed trims.

October 20: Rabbit Spa Day

Peyton, our dedicated volunteer, groomed the rabbits.


October 22: Stevie's Surgery Cancellation

Stevie's revision surgery was canceled due to a power outage at the hospital. However, he received his first melanoma vaccination.

October 23: Insulinwise Purchase

Insulinwise was ordered to support the horses' metabolic health.

October 24: Elliott's Itchy Skin

Elliott began taking Quercetin to alleviate itchy skin.

October 25: Grooming and Chiropractic

Marilyn and Chowder were groomed at Doggie Designs, and Gabriel received chiropractic treatment.

October 26: Harvest Festival

We participated in the Downtown Winters Harvest Festival and loaned straw bales to Cambridge Elementary.

October 28: Stevie's Surgery

Stevie underwent his scheduled surgery.

October 29: Donkey Farrier

The donkeys received hoof care from the farrier.

October 30: Acupuncture for Chowder

Chowder had an acupuncture session at Hatton Vet.
