Holly

CATTLEDOG

  • From: Elmira, California

  • Adopted: Dec 2021

Holly, a charming cattledog, found her way into our hearts just before Christmas in December 2021. A teacher discovered her wandering on the school grounds and recognized that heelers do not do well in shelter environments. Faced with a lack of offers from the community to foster this sweet girl, I reached out to the finder.

Our plan to foster Holly was hatched in secret, waiting for the right moment to spring the question on Vince. Vince, preoccupied with Sunday football games, initially responded with a resounding "no" without even glimpsing a photo of our newfound furry friend. Undeterred, I declared my intent to pick up Holly, and Vince joined me on this journey.

Following the mandatory 30-day stray hold, it was evident that Holly was terribly frightened and apprehensive around us. Nevertheless, I dedicated myself to helping her grow more comfortable with

our presence each day. As January came to an end and Vince's birthday approached, we decided to make a special announcement – Holly was officially a cherished member of our family, one of the Lucky Ones.

Fast forward to today, and Holly's affectionate bond with Vince is nothing short of heartwarming. She adores him wholeheartedly, eagerly accompanying him wherever he goes. However, when he heads off to work, you'll often find her wistfully waiting in her crate until his return. Finally, Vince has a loyal companion who follows him around instead of me. Holly's journey from a frightened stray to a loving companion is a testament to the power of patience, love, and the incredible transformation that can happen when animals find their forever homes.

Holly is now giving back by being a very patient and loving therapy dog.
